Book Swap is Coming! May 22- grades 2 & 3 May 23 - grades 4 & 5   Do your spring cleaning and bring in some books to swap! It's a great way to get free books for summer reading! Bring in your books during the week of May 14th!

Internet Safety and Cyberbullying   The fifth graders are learning all about Internet Safety and Cyberbullying during the month of May. I am working with my students to make them aware of the dangers when using the Internet, which may include predators, identity theft and cyberbullying. I've shared some information and short videos about these topics from the following sites: www.safekids.com www.netsmartz.org www.wiredsafety.org These sites are a great resource for students and parents who are interested in learning more about these issues. They also offer support to children and their parents who have questions or are facing challenges of this type.

Join Us for the Scholastic Summer Challenge

Hess School is joining the Scholastic Summer Challenge - a free online program designed to motivate and excite your children around reading books this summer. The Summer Challenge is an easy and fun way for kids to log the minutes they spend reading as they earn rewards and help Read for the World Record. If our school is one of the top 20 schools with the most minutes logged, we will be featured in the 2013 Scholastic Book of World Records.
