What does this quote mean to you?
Goals:
For me this quote is an essential part of my life. Each and every one of us has goals, whether short-term or long-term. However, the outcome of those goals is essentially determined by how you begin each and every one of them. Every goal must begin with a plan and an end in mind. This plan ensures that the goal will be met with hard-work, responsibility, discipline and perseverance to meet a successful end.
There will always be set backs while attempting to reach your goals and that is understandable. As a fan of baseball I tend to relate to these setbacks as "strikeouts." The sooner you realize that not all of life's at-bats generate hits, and just stepping up to the plate will result in a few strikeouts (setbacks), the quicker and more determined you will be to step inside the batters box once again. Basically, you will learn from your setbacks or mistakes, and not allow them to change or alter your plan to reach your goals.
2011-2012:
As you begin the 2011-2012 school year at the William Davies Middle School remember how important the first few days, weeks and months are. Your "beginnings" this school year will determine how successful your "end" will be in June. You are all transitioning from children to young adults. The goals you set for yourselves this year and how successful you are in attaining those goals will determine how you will be perceived as you enter into your new role as 8th graders and leaders in our school.
Parents please remember that the building blocks in every child's life begin at home and are continued within our school's community. Parents, as much as teachers and administrators, are an essential part of this development.
