For all grade levels:                                             

 All students will need a 1 inch BINDER/NOTEBOOK, paper, pencils and earbuds for Spanish class and will use these for all Related Arts classes this year. All vocab is cumulative and papers need to stay organized.

Spanish 

Overview of Curriculum

Spanish is offered as part of the Related Arts rotation in sixth grade. Here students focus on building vocabulary – Introductions, Classroom objects, Numbers, Geography, House and Family. 

Seventh and eighth grade students will have one marking period of Spanish in addition to their yearlong class.

In sixth grade our cultural units are Families in Spanish speaking countries and Native groups in Mesoamerica.

In seventh grade to take an in-depth look at immigration.

In eighth grade our unit is civil rights and changes that took place.

 

 

All grade levels: Students will complete a Talent 21 Problem Based Learning unit.
 

Textbooks

 We will use a variety of materials. Our focus will be comprehension of spoken and written phrases. Exploring Spanish and Synergy Spanish will be the major resources for grades 6, 7 and 8.

Legal Immigration

Many people desire to move to the USA every year. There are a few ways the government has in place for people to request residency in the USA.

1.    Discuss at least one of these and tell why you believe it is good or bad; helpful or harmful to the applicant.

2.    Where do these people come from? What are the top countries with people seeking to come to the USA? Are they an asset to the USA or are they a burden? Please explain why.

3.    What about those who seek asylum? Should the same standards apply? Please explain why.
