Grading System

The evaluation of student achievement is one of the most important functions of the school.  Report cards are issued four times during the school year and the marking system is as follows:

                                                A 91-100               F Failure (66 or below)

                                                B 83-90                 INC Incomplete

                                                C 75-82                 NR No Rating

                                                D 67-74

Failure of two or more subjects will result in retention.  Failure of 2 Related Arts subjects will   count as one failure for retention purposes.  During the year a student must attain a minimum of 3 points to pass a subject. The student must also earn passing grades in a minimum of two marking periods per subject.  In a subject that meets half a year, the student must pass one of the two marking periods. A = 4 points, B = 3 points, C = 2 points, D = 1 point, F = O points.  A student must also pass at least 2 marking periods in a given subject.

Each mid-marking period, parent(s)/guardian(s) receive through the mail an Interim Progress Report which communicates their child's progress in all subject areas.  The Guidance counselors are always available to discuss these reports or the report cards.  Failure to receive warning of a failure does not guarantee a child is passing.  Further reports may not be made unless a parent(s)/guardian(s)   specifically requests one.  Parent(s)/guardian(s) should monitor their child's work carefully.
