Attendance Policy

Davies School places a high priority on regular school attendance by its students.  A copy of the District Attendance Policy has been given to the students and the parent(s)/guardian(s).   Below are some of the highlights of the policy:

1.       Students are required to attend a minimum of 162 days in the school year to be eligible for promotion.

2.       Students absent in excess of 18 unexcused days will be retained in their present grade, regardless of their current marks.

3.       Excused absences will only be allowed when verified by a doctor note, a death in the immediate family verified by a parent note, a religious holiday as prescribed by the Board of Education, required attendance in court which is documented, or prior administrative approval.

4.       A student is late (tardy) when he/she arrives after homeroom has started. Parent(s)/guardian(s) are responsible for coming into the main office and signing their child in.

5.       Unexcused latenesses are cumulative over the course of the year.

6.       Excessive unexcused latenesses (at 15, 20, and 25) will be converted to unexcused absences (refer to district attendance policy).
